Dialoguing with the scale of Land Art, Vortex corresponds to a gesture of signalling through cartographic language. There, on a large expanse of land, where different times and occupations converge, the artist articulates, through an action and physical work, a large-scale circle to be seen from the air.
Vórtice is located in the remains of what was once a lucrative mining company, now abandoned in the Atacama Desert, located at an altitude of 780 metres above sea level. The work belongs to a group of works articulated by the artist that operate on two ways. On the one hand, the encounter with ancestral territories with the presence of indigenous drawings and petroglyphs (concentric circles) intervened and damaged by mining projects. On the other, the autobiographical experience of loss that drives him to generate performative works as a vehicle of communication through various physical actions.
In this context, Vórtice is configured through the hard work of leaving a mark, performing the act of commemoration in a place that no one inhabits anymore. The black pigment, made from the fusion of waste materials from the mining industry such as tailings dust, gypsum and coal, indicates the artist's journey. The repetitive and insistent action of walking in circles. In the middle of the arid desert and at altitude, the hours of work and the intervention in the place establish a temporary link with the territory and with the absent bodies.

Dialogando con la escala del Land Art, Vórtice corresponde a un gesto de señalamiento a través del lenguaje cartográfico. Ahí, en una gran extensión de tierra, donde confluyen diferentes tiempos y ocupaciones, el artista articula, por medio de la acción y el trabajo físico, un círculo de gran escala para ser visto desde el aire.
Vórtice se emplaza en los despojos de lo que en algún momento fue una lucrativa empresa minera actualmente abandonada en el desierto de Atacama, ubicada a 780 metro de altura. La obra pertenece a un conjunto de trabajos articulados por el artista que operan desde dos frentes. Por un lado, el encuentro con territorios ancestrales con presencia de dibujos y petroglifos indígenas (círculos concéntricos) intervenidos y vulnerados por proyectos mineros. Por otro, la experiencia autobiográfica del duelo y la pérdida que lo impulsan a generar acciones performativas como vehículo de comunicación a través de diversas acciones físicas.
En este contexto, Vórtice se configura a través del trabajo arduo de dejar marca y conmemorar en un lugar que ya nadie habita. El pigmento negro, elaborado a partir de la fusión materiales de desperdicio de la industria minera como polvo de relave, yeso y carbón, indica el recorrido del artista. La repetitiva e insistente acción de caminar en círculos. En medio del árido desierto y en altura, las horas de trabajo y la intervención en el lugar establecen un vínculo temporal con el territorio y con los cuerpos ausentes.
