With the help of inhabitants of the town of Los Choros, the installation takes place in the commune of La Higuera, specifically in a ghost mining camp, which was adjacent to the Tofo Mine. The houses, currently uninhabited due to their proximity to tailings deposits and infrastructure abandoned by the mining industry in the area, still protect objects from another time. The artist covers and illuminates these residential objects as a gesture of ephemeral signalling. After various material tests, a battery of cars and a great effort of installation, Marco succeeds in highlighting a place that has been forgotten over time. In the midst of the vast landscape of the nocturnal desert, light, as an expansive material, and red, as a pregnant colour, take over the ghostly atmosphere and bring back to life an almost empty land.

The work was exhibited for the first time at the Matta Cultural Centre of the Chilean Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Management by One Moment Art. 2019

Con la ayuda de habitantes del pueblo de Los Choros, la instalación se lleva a cabo en la comuna de La Higuera, específicamente en un campamento minero fantasma, que se encontraba adyacente a la Mina el Tofo. Las viviendas, actualmente deshabitadas por su cercanía a depósitos de relave e infraestructura abandonada por la industria minera en la zona, aún protegen objetos de otro tiempo. El artista cubre e ilumina dichos objetos residenciales como un gesto de señalamiento efímero. Tras diversas pruebas materiales, una batería de auto y un gran esfuerzo de instalación, Marco logra destacar un lugar que con el paso del tiempo ha sido olvidado. En medio del paisaje inabarcable del desierto nocturno, la luz, como material expansivo, y el rojo, como color pregnante, se toman la atmósfera fantasma y vuelven a dar vida a una tierra casi vacía.

 

La obra fue exhibida por primera vez en el Centro Cultural Matta de la embajada de Chile en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Gestión por One Moment Art. 2019
